Using LIveBinders in the Classroom
LiveBinders is a great organization and collaboration tool on the web that is free. No more lost handouts or assignments. Easily interfaces with the Google Suite and WordPress.• Design and maintain their own LiveBinders
• Create at least five tabs, three personal tabs and one for Google and WordPress accounts.
• Collaborate and discuss the process of creating a LiveBinders.

1. Brainstorm on organization, class websites, class topics to begin process.
2. Introduce LIveBinders http://livebinders.com by demonstrating a teacher account.
3. Teacher will demonstrate how to make an account.
4. Students will create their account and log into LiveBinders.
5. Students will explore the site as the teacher points out the interface.
6. Students will create a cover page of their choice (Wordle, Tagxedo, Photos, Art Work, etc)

Students will be able to produce and maintain a LiveBinders that includes both their collaborative and individual work.
The work will be assessed in three areas: LiveBinders created, 5 tabs created including a tab for a Cover page, Google, WordPress and 2 of student/teacher discretion. Being able to share and collaborate will be reviewed. Content will not be assessed in this scenario.
It is important for students to make connections to enhance their experiences with their peers and their teacher by sharing their completed work.
LiveBinders is an online three ring binder that allows for the organization and collection of resources.
Students:
As part of the process will have the students will be use a Google form to complete a survey on the process. They will write a reflection on their experience of creating and maintaining their LiveBinders.
They work collaboratively to add information and material and discuss the binder use.
Teacher:
After completing the process, I will evaluate the final products and the students’ reflections. I will review the process of completing the LiveBinders by looking at the students’ reflections and the final products. This will impact how I move forward and what adjustments to the process I will make based on any trouble spots or adding additional tabs or information.
Anyone can use LiveBinders but this scenario is aimed at students older than 13.
Students use the Internet to make connections throughout their lives. Whether using Facebook on other sites, students collaborate in all sorts of settings. With this familiarity and prior knowledge, it is important to access this experience when using LiveBinders.
The student’s LiveBinders will be their personal binder space to include their personal selections as well as teacher required sites and handouts. Once they have completed the binder they will be presenting and sharing their LiveBinders with their classmates and teacher.
