Designed for K-8 students to design and write their own digitally and musically enhanced slideshow. Students will have the ability to share their stories by uploading their own pictures, pick the music for their show’s and write their own stories discussing the meaning behind the pictures that they chose.Keywords

About the author
I am a elementary educator with a type 03 certificate with experience teaching differentiated instruction in grades K-4. Currently, I am a full-time student at FullSail University and I am in the Educational Media, Design and Technology master's program. I am also a wife and busy mother of three children ages, 2, 4, and 8. I use emergent technology with my own children to foster a home/school connection that supplements and enrich their current school curriculum.
Procedure:
Go to Photopeach.com(Students View on Overhead Projector)
Click on Sign up for free
Enter a username, email and password
Click on Explore
Click on a category of interest (Family, Nature, Pet’s and Animals, Education, Science, Travel, Sports
Go to Photopeach.com (Students on computer).
Select Create New Slide Show (Upload Photos.)
Selec up to 30 Photo’s of interest and Upload to Photopeach.
Drag and drop photos to change the play order
Drag photo’s to the right side to delete them .
Double-Click to see large previews
Click Next
Add Music or upload your own Audio
Add a Title
Add Caption’s to your pictures.
Customize
Play slide show.
Share each child’s slide show with the class and family.
Embed each show on the class website.

Technology:
Photopeach.com is a slideshow application that is user friendly for all age groups. Not only can you share your photos but you can create stories through writing your own captions while integrating music to add to the viewing experience.
Reflection:
Students will reflect on their experience by creating their own family album of the members in their family. They will present their slideshow and share with the class. This will enable students to be exposed to the differences of families units amongst their peers. Students will be able to compare and contrast similarities and differences of the families that make up their community.
Audience:
The target audience is students in K-3.
Making Connections:
Previous Knowledge: From discussions and stories on families and community children have discussed the various members that make up a family.
Relevant: Children in K-3 are learning about roles and member of a family unit. This will help them make connections and understand the members and functions of each person in a family. Students will make connections that they too are a collective part of a community.
Local/Global Audience: By creating their own slideshow, students can share their stories and shows with others through embedding into the class website, sharing with the collective community on Photopeach, and sharing the slideshow with family and friends.

What a fun lesson, but what would happen if a student did not have any photographs to share? I can see how the students could make the discovery that they are part of a community. I could see how this lesson could expand in sophistication as the age on the student increases.

What a great way to have the students discover that they are a part of a community. This lesson has everything a kid could want Stuff to play with and things to create and to have. Mark
I like the introduction of software other than one of “the usuals” out there for students to learn and explore.
I know that kids this age typically love talking about their family. Since you’ve suggested sharing the finished videos with the class, do you feel one or two kids may feel embarrassed?
If a child for some reason did not feel comfortable sharing their family life with the class, you might consider allowing them to make a slideshow of their pets? Or pets in the neighborhood? Or even of their stuffed toys or toy figurines?
The possibility of one or two exceptions aside, congratulations on finding a tool created especially for younger students that enables them to share their story with other or simply document it for themselves.
To modify this lesson, students with no photos would be able to take photos of anything they believe is special to share their own story. That could be their pets, their classmates, or stuffed animals. I would allow students to bring in their own “special” and help them create their own photos.
