Sheppard Software has fun educational games/activities for children to play online which are specifically designed by age/grade. www.Sheppardsoftware.com
The children will be able to reflect on their experience by creating their own personal environment. They can also share their own personal creations with the class to compare and contrast environments. While presenting they will also have the chance to express whether they liked or did not like the activity and also suggest any changes.
The teachers can evaluate the children’s answers, pictures, and grades to reflect on whether any changes/improvements should be made to RILS. They can then decided whether some activities should remain in a group or move to solo in order to achieve the deepest level of learning per child.
Designed for Pre-School and Kindergarten students.
The learner will make connections with:
Previous Knowledge: From children’s books, nursery rhymes, song they have already learned in class. Ex. “Old MacDonald”
Relevant: Children in this age group are newly learning to make the connections between where things go in the world. This will help make a strong foundation for future learning as well.
Local/Global Audience: By creating and printing their own environments they can easily share with others. Teachers cannot only hang the pictures up in the classroom but also in the hallways for the rest of the school to see. They will also take the pictures home to share with their friends and families. On a global note these pictures can be scanned and placed on a website to help others see what type of learning the children are doing and where to go to experience these learning games as well.
