Basecamp is an easy to use web 2.0 tool that streamlines all the components of short and long-term projects. It provides your collaborative team the engaging tools necessary to streamline all project aspects in one convenient web location that has 24-hour access by all team members.
At the end of this scenario, the team members will be able to:
o Develop a team based project that is more efficient and reliable
o Track notes, meetings, and schedules of each team member
o Analyze the project through visual check points
o Evaluate milestones within a project
o Create a platform to collaborate on a project in a digital world
o Computer
o Internet Access
o Basic knowledge of computer navigation
1. The project manager will create an account at http://basecampphq.com/
2. The project manager will send an invitation through email to participate as a project member through basecamp to a created group account.
3. Click create an account button. It will prompt the invited member to develop a user name and password.
4. The new team member will log in using your newly created user name and password
5. Once the team member is logged in, he/she will automatically arrive under the “Dashboard” tab, choose the project that the member was invited to work on.
6. Under the “To-Dos” tab, each team member will be assigned responsibilities for the project.
7. Under the “Calendar” tab, the milestones of the project will be documented for all the team members to reference. This calendar is accessible to each member to add or delete events.
8. Team members can communicate internally by using the “Messages” tab.
9. Team members can work collaboratively on written content within the “Writeboards” tab. Here each member can make edits to documents that are tracked by the basecamp.
10. Each member can also track the amount of time that they work on any component of the project by utilizing the “Time” tab.
11. The “Files” tab allows all members to upload files to share with the team.
The milestones of the project will have a tracking system through the calendar, the to-dos tab, and communication through the message board. Posted snap shots of each of these phases will help the team self assess the progress of the project.

Learner Reflection: Weekly collaborative team meetings will include a 20 minute “think tank” session to share with each other what they are learning from the process of the project and how the website is facilitating clear and effective communication. “Think tank” sessions will request input from each member to define how the web 2.0 tool is creating effective communication and production and how the website tool may be utilized to enhance current communication practices among the team members. Educator/trainer reflection: The trainer will utilize weekly staff meetings to receive feedback from collaborative team members in order to evaluate and improve upon the use of the web 2.0 tool and the project completion. The trainer will utilize feedback to make any corrections, retraining, or modifications necessary to facilitate the engagement of team members and completion of the project.

The team members will be able to apply their current knowledge of project development in an interactive digital environment, develop and complete a project successfully, and provide a finished project to teachers implementing a new assessment tool.
