Co-Designing Courses With Coursekit
Co-Designing Courses With Coursekit
In this course a team of teachers will work together in a blended course (with both live meetings and in an online environment) designing a new course concerning their own subject. They will follow the common steps for instructional design, and will be using the latest in the field of educational technology. The objective of this course is to get a better understanding of instructional design through collaboration in Coursekit. In this course, teachers will learn to:
o Experiment with instructional design process
o Demonstrate their skill in using Coursekit
o Formulate learning objectives together
o Create digital course content
o Plan lessons, assignments and other tasks for a course
Needed for this RILS:
• A computer, with internet access, for each learner
• A projector
• A meeting room
• Paper and markers
• A Coursekit account for each learner
• Online tool for creating a mindmap (in this case Prezi)

This course follows the first phase of the ADDIE process, in different steps:
1. The instructor and the teachers have a pre-design session explaining the course outline, creating an online mindmap, explaining the course tool (Coursekit) and any other content tools (see: Materials). Teachers discuss their assignment for the first session.
2. The teachers divide the preparation for the first session; researching subject material and recent developments, assessing current student proficiency for the course, and looking for relevant media. They will add this to the online mindmap.
3. Design session: Course Analysis and Design: In this session the instructor will explain how Coursekit works, and how teachers can use it to collaborate online.
Teachers will then:
a. discuss course research,
b. add literature to Coursekit Resources,
c. define learning objectives in the online mindmap,
d. Define course assessment
e. Define learning tasks and assignments
For the Rubric, see separate PDF.
Coursekit is an intuitive online course management tool.
At the end of the course, teachers will mail a short evaluation of the course to the instructor, stating how they made their end products and how they experienced the collaboration in different settings. The instructor will review the evaluations and write a short improvement plan for the course.
This RILS is intended for teachers who teach the same course, together or on their own.
Teachers in this course will: - re-establish a connection with their on field of expertise. Through subject research and discussion, they will broaden and deepen their subject knowledge. - Evaluate and update their view on teaching, both with colleagues and in other classes they give. - Connect with colleagues in evaluating the new course design,
