Basic Vector Graphics with Mikons
Learners will be introduced to vector graphics by creating a “Mikon” color illustration using basic shapes. Learners will share their Mikons with others.create or recreate a work of art or design.

1) Introduction: Learners are introduced to the Mikon Machine (MM).
2) Demo: Instructor demonstrates creating an illustration on MM.
3) Play: Learners are tasked with experimenting with MM. For example, learners could create a design with at least 3 basic shapes. It is recommended that learners not spend more than 10 minutes on this step.
4) Share: Learners share their MM creations. Learners discuss color, shape, or overall experience.
Learners will demonstrate knowledge of basic elements through example and discussion. They will also show an understanding of basic tools of an illustration program.
Grading:
Illustration
1) use of at least 3 shapes. 5pts
2) 2+ colors or 1 of different values. 5pts
Discussion:
1) initial post and image upload. Discuss your creation and your observations. 5pts.
2) 2 feedback posts on other learners. 5pts. each.
25pts total.

● Learner Reflection: Students will reflect on their observations of their work and those of others during class discussion.
● Educator Reflection: The educator will have to moniter student activity and discussion posts to determine if changes need to be made to this RILS.
Target learners will be anyone interested in or curious about producing art or design. This scenario was intended for higher education but difficulty may be suitable for high school level. This is a course for beginners.
Rudimentary experience: Learners begin to develop skills working with elements of art and design using a lightweight vector editor.
Prior knowledge: Learners will reinforce connections made on how art or design elements interact with another.
